We were proud to host two distinguished visitors from Northern Ireland in April 2007.
Professor John Wilson, Director, Institute of Ulster-Scots Studies, and Alister McReynolds, Principal and Chief Executive of the Lisburne Institute, traveled to Maine to research the Ulster-Scots immigration experience in this area prior to the American Revolution.
By combining research from their visit to Maine with existing documentation in Northern Ireland, a new historical perspective will be added to the development of both countries.
In other words, the story of Maine's Ulster-Scots will finally be told.
